Nicholas Market: Local shopping in NJ

Nicholas Market

Project Summary

Nicholas Market is one of northern and central New Jersey's best-kept secrets. With four community stores in key neighborhoods, they've been able to remain family-owned and independent since 1943. Sure they carry locally sourced and organic produce, fresh meats and cheeses and bakery items, but what sets them apart is their mouth-watering selections of foods prepared by skilled chefs trained at the Culinary Institute of America.

Nicholas Market approached Cayuga to source dry and refrigerated units for their bakery, produce and deli departments. They had a fixed budget and needed the cases and displays to be built and delivered within a short period...without taking shortcuts!

Our design team put together a collection of existing designs, but with customized details and finishes to fit their market-inspired brand. The collection included our stylish one-glass deli service counter, designed to optimize the customer's view of the products.

One of the challenges we faced was the need to seamlessly connect refrigerated units with dry produce units inside a small area, but modular units and standardized designs helped bring continuity and added versatility. The project was completed on time, and on budget.

The client loved the high-level of service and our ability to meet all of their demands. But more importantly, they love how their stores look...and work!
